All
the plants start their lives as seedlings which are germinated in the
bedding facilities.
After six weeks they are moved on to the poly-tunnels
to develop for another 3 months before being taken either to the fields for planting or placed in hydroponic units which eliminates the need for weeding.
Using organic techniques requires extra effort to ensure that the weed
population is kept at bay and that the pests and bugs don't destroy the
plants.

When the plants have
reached maturity for processing they are cut and taken to the drying shed.
The plants are placed onto drying shelves and left to dry with plenty
of warm air circulating to assist the process.
When all the plants are dry the leaves are separated from the
stems and are placed into the shredding machines.
This produces the final product ready to be packaged. The product
is weighed and placed into clear plastic plant bags before being
sealed into the display envelopes for sale.
